Ruined for marriage
Spoilers present for Ookami-San.
You have to admire Ryoushi being written as the exact opposite of the CD-snapping otaku and their reaction to Nagi or Aya Hirano. He really is a man. It takes guts to stand up to a beating from a textbook tsundere every week and still persistently declare your feelings, but to stand up to the Japanese expectation (demand?) of a girl’s purity is another thing entirely.
Perhaps the nature of the girl’s past experience (i.e., rape) puts it outside the norm, but not so much that the kimoi/trad set wouldn’t still dismiss her as a whore unworthy of their affections.
So, kudos to Ryoushi for being a real man and standing up for his “damaged goods.” And props to Ookami-San for surprising me by using an oh-so-easy plot device (reversion) to broach the less easy topic of Ryoko’s molestation.
