I still watch anime. Lots of it actually, because Reign of Terror doesn’t always allow me to do much else. I’m watching:

Inferno Cop: 11/10

Vividred: super robutt anime

Polar Bear: it’s turned into bearyashikei. why does it have to end?

Jojo: must be spoken about in all caps. 26 episode run was a good idea

Robotics: pretty fun still. probably the apocalypse will even be light-hearted. Frau taking harem lead was kind of unexpected, maybe it shouldn’t have been

Tamako: Keep on creepin, bird. I hated K-ON. I like this.

Shinsekai Yori: Every turn it takes is fucking weird. but it’s dark, atmospheric, spooky, sexy, imaginative, visually awesome. basically everything that TV anime isn’t. Plus… post-timeskip Saki, yikes. call me a queerat and do research on me ok

Turn A Gundam: Loran is easily one of Gundam’s best protagonists. The Terrans and Mooninites are easily the worst people. Not a single order is ever followed on the battlefield, unless it’s “go do something stupid.” It’s human nature to want to fight with other humans. This is Tomino’s world, we just die in it.

Is it a metaphor for Israel/Palestine? Is Gavane following in Char’s lolicon footsteps by trying to marry Sochie? Did his pedo-stache give that away too early? Speaking of which, why does the Turn A have a mustache?

Aria the Origination: I have two episodes left. I can’t handle that.

I don’t know why it’s important but people were talking about what Vividred Operation “is.” A lot of people seemed to think it’s a mahou shoujo which is blarg but not because something magical-girl-esque can’t be for boys. I have Madoka, Nanoha, and I dunno Cutie Honey here that say otherwise.

But come on, this is a super robot show. If the gattai doesn’t prove it, maybe the scientist who’s developed an infinite power source will? There’s as much mechanical porn as there is butt stuff, and two pilots even fight before joining forces.

The themes are as generic as any shounen character’s life thesis: fighting, protecting stuff, fighting to protect stuff.

I dunno why it matters since they’re practically the same genre and I was once gonna write an A&V post that said just that, but this is what I think.
